this is some of the video i made while working on the cgchannel matte painting challenge. there are LOTS more clips that i'll add in and probably double the speed even from what's here now and reupload. i trimmed it way back because the time to render the video out was taking forever and i need the processor power tonight. more soon...

Scene was match moved, then entire background and contestant podiums were recreated in 3d studio max and rendered with vray. keying and roto done in after effects.

This is a matte painting that was done for a matte painting class taught by David Luong. This started with a sketch based on a photo that really inspired me (same photo i ended up using for the final image) and was built up from there. I used photoshop, 3d studio max and vray


I have an animated version of this projected onto 3d geometry (done in maya) that needs a little finishing but I'll post it up here soon.

Original plate is a photo I took at Ruby Beach in Washington. 3d elements were created in 3d studio max, rendered with vray. composited in photoshop.
